Exploration Guides

We're all explorers. You just need the right guide.

trail-finder.com

I set up trail-finder.com years ago, but it never really took off.  With smart phones, it’s a lot easier to build and share real, surveyed trail maps.  One thing trail-finder does have now, though, that’s not here, is a lot of information on general outdoor knowledge.  That’ll all be migrated over here over the next few months, complimenting all the park-specific information already here.  That, and more, is coming soon.

Mushrooms, Grapples, and Safes

Sometimes you can walk though the woods and not find much.  Today, at Pontiac Lake State Recreation Area, we found HUGE numbers of mushrooms, everywhere we looked, plenty of apple and grapple trees, and even a safe, which we believed someone stole and cut into to get to the good stuff.  Always good to find new things.

2001

A Space Odyssey?  Nope.  Not this time.  The total downloads of Exploration Guides’ apps since the first one was released a bit under five months ago.  That’s more than 400 downloads a month, and picking up quick.  But we’re not done yet.

Version 1.2 of the app engine, which will support the first Destination Apps, is nearing completion.  Improved interface, search capabilities, and more.

Kensington Metropark and Sanilac Petroglyphs State Historic Park

Wondering why no new apps for the last few weeks?  Don’t worry.  Been out surveying trails.  Sanilac Petroglyphs State Historical Park and Kensington Metropark are both now fully surveyed.  Kensington will take a lot of processing before that app is ready to go, but Sanilac Petroglyphs should be out soon.
