Lake Erie Metropark Marsh Museum

Lake Erie Metropark’s Marsh Museum is perhaps one of the most poorly named museums in existence.  The name brings up ideas of a standard nature center specializing in marshes.  Well, all that stuff is there, but there’s much more.  As the intersection of the Detroit River, the Huron River, and Lake Erie, this area has long been a major intersection, first for Native Americans.  Later, trappers came into the area, followed by soldiers, forts, settlers, and now, you and I.  The Marsh Museum explains this entire history, and provides interpreters to answer any questions about both the local history and ecology.  Don’t pass this up as you head out onto the trails.
